I was an Action House Devotee
The Hassles & the Doors got their breaks here. I was a regular, underage weekly attendee who lived a mile & a tad from this place. The year was 1966. My dad died, leaving an extra car while my mom drove from home to the city both Fri & Sat night. I became the designated driver. I didn't drink or do drugs. The bouncers kicked out this group I hung with from Merck & Freeport. I was there every week. They'd get sloppy on Quaaludes and Seconals. We'd all head back to my place. It was a messy time emotionally for me bc that next yr my mom died. I skipped through 11 & 12th grade & by Sept, at 16 started college in NYC. I loved this place, fell in love, had broken hearts, I was a real looker!!! Music was great & I got so much attention for my dancing & flirting!!! Madonna has nothing on me.
